Addressing hydrogeological instability requires rapid action and technical precision.

As part of the framework agreement signed with the Province of Piacenza, we have completed the detailed design for the urgent stabilisation works on Provincial Road SP 586R at km 20+700, near the Boschi Dam (Piacenza, Italy), where a major landslide affected a significant portion of the hillside and caused the road to be closed. 

To restore traffic under emergency conditions, the intervention was developed in two phases:

▪ Phase 1: Reprofiling of the uphill slope, surface reinforcement, and installation of a rockfall protection barrier.

▪ Phase 2: A flexible post-collapse stabilisation solution using high-strength steel consolidators (“umbrella” technology) anchored to a depth of 16 m, combined with sub-horizontal drainage systems within the slope.

 

This two-stage approach made it possible to quickly reopen the road to light vehicles while continuous geotechnical monitoring of the slope—implemented following direct collaboration between our team and the client—collects the data required to develop the final long-term stabilisation design.
